Not enough detail???
Are you/your cart on a win server?
Are your mail accounts on an exchange server?
What actually is your exact issue?

Re: usage of Exchange 2003 external mail server??

I was trying to ask the question in a different way(s) in the hope of getting a possible solution. Sometimes the way a question is asked makes a difference.

The website is externally hosted on a Windows server.
The exchange server is internally operated by us.

It seems that no one else has ever had the problem(s) that I have had with email not working and that I have no way to diagnose what is going on because:

  1. How can I diagnose why messages are not received if there is no message to look at etc.?? Email archive manager doesn't show me any header information etc., unless there is some setting I do not know about, but I clicked everything and no header information appears.

  2. I know ZC 1.2.x email code is not so good as 1.2.x code but I am stuck with it until I can get 1.3.8.x installed and since 1.3.8.x uses smtp auth, I am not guaranteed that the same problem will occur with 1.3.8.x.

  3. I have already asked about how I can turn on email debugging and received no reply on how to do this, or I would do this and see if I can find anything helpful.

  4. I don't have any control over the website hosting's email etc. and changing website hosts is a last resort, plus I must use Windows hosting.

  5. I have asked elsewhere and not gotten anywhere yet either...

  6. I have tried numerous different settings for smtp auth and nothing works...no errors, no emails, etc. occur.

Thank you, Tom

Re: usage of Exchange 2003 external mail server??

All of this comes down to your DNS setup where you have your domain name registered.

If at a registrar that allows you full facility/control....
Instead of the normal pointing your domain name at your hosting providers nameservers you should use their (registrars) DNS, and look for settings for any of the following

"A" record
@
"www"

Set these to your hosting accounts IP - your dedicated IP if you have one.

Then look for the MX record setting and mail "C" name setting

These should be pointed to your internal exchange server name

Much is written on this and these are only a couple
