A question from new user..hello all.

Hi. I'm very familiar with Oscommerce and have been using it now for several years, but I'm always open to alternative solutions. My hosting account allows me to install V1.3.8a zen cart and I was wondering if someone could just point out any pros and cons with Zen Cart over OSC. Many of the contributions available with OSC are quite buggy and don't always work without a little bit of tweaking. Is this the case with Zen Cart? I can't seem to find a demo version of Zen Cart on this site either. Is one available please. Also are there any recommended books or tutorials.
I've noticed that the features below come as standard with Zen Cart which is a good start.

• discount coupons
• gift certificates
• featured products
• quantity discounts

Apologies if I'm going over already trodden ground but thanks for any replies.

Martin

Zen Cart has moved far beyond osC. Many functions that are addons for osC are built into Zen Cart. I suggest you try doing some reading in the tutorials/FAQ and take a look at http://(sorry, site offline)/ to see the free templates available and test Zen Cart itself.

Hi, Just download it from the front page of this website and install, its as easy as that, no demo versions just the full Zen ! It's pretty good at practically everything ! have fun

OK Thanks for that. I'll have a look.

Hi Martin - I had a fully set up Osc store and switched over to zen cart. Zen cart blows Osc away, IMO. Once you get the hang of it, add on's are soooo much easier and, unlike Osc, they actually work!
