Zen programmers plz help!!!!!

I posted about a problem last week... thought I had a resolution but client had new problems today when inputting a new category...I am COMPLETELY confused as to why this is happening and it is a live site that was completely redesigned...she had no problems before....

She is using WSYWIG editor....she is entering information, but when it is saved it pushes EVERYTHING up to the top of the screen...

http://www.vintagebodyspa.com/massage-bath-oil

This was happening in her EZ-Pages last week, so I taught her how to use the text editor...that fixed that...

I cannot possibly ask her to go through all of her products to do that..I would rather diagnose WHY it is doing this....the site products were fine....today she added a new product...copied text from another product into the new product and the above link is the result....

ALL of the products are off and the HTML jsut seems screwed up....

Can any developers or programmers help figure this out via Skype or Google IM or something...I will pay for you time...I just HAVE to get this fixed and have tried many scenarios....she has a huge launch the end of the week so this needs to be done..and I need to know she can update products on her own without this happening!!!

Re: Zen programmers plz help!!!!!

A quick look shows the Footer DIV is not being closed.

<!--bof-navigation display --> <div id="footer"> <table class="footerWrapper1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" width="985" >

...

</tr> </tbody></table>

</div>

<br />

Add the closing DIV tag as shown in Red.

Re: Zen programmers plz help!!!!!

Your stylesheet has an error at line 631

padding-botton: 3px;}May not cure your problems, but will help with validation.

Re: Zen programmers plz help!!!!!

Thanks guys....took care of both...but no dice...at least I now know it is something with the template....so I am just going to go through every page.... just doesn't make sense that everything was fine until she starts working on it...when I edit pages nothing changes...but when she edits them all this extra information shows up in the html in the product editor like <p> and <font> when I remove those everything seems to go back to normal which is why Inever gave the template a thought.....I am just completely baffled!!!

Re: Zen programmers plz help!!!!!

If I look at the source code of a product I typed in you get this:

<div id="productDescription" class="productGeneral biggerText">The Vintage Body Spa eye pillow is filled with all natural flax seed and lavender.  Eye pillows are used to provide gentle pressure on the face and temples for relaxation, meditation and sleep. The shape of the eye pillow contours to your face, blocking out external light and environmental stress.  <br><br>The gentle pressure calms the muscles around the eyes, relieving tension and promoting relaxation.  Eye pillows are known as a natural remedy for headaches and used widely in yoga practice (during Sayasana), in meditation and to encourage afternoon naps.Available in a relaxing scent (lavender herbs and essential oil) or sinus/headache relief (a proprietary blend of botanicals and essential oils).  <br><br>The essential oils and herbs contained in Vintage Body Spa eye pillows encourage relaxation and rejuvenation of your body and soul.Eye pillows are available in pink microfleece, brown microsuede type material, sage green satin, lavender satin and a cream satin brocade print. </div>
If you look at one she typed in you get this (jsut showing the first couple of lines):

<div id="productDescription" class="productGeneral biggerText"><p><font color="#000000" face="verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif" size="2">8 oz.</font></p><p><font face="Verdana" size="2">African Black Soap is known for its healing properties and has been used for centuries to care for the skin and improve overall skin health.  This Liquid African Black Soap is brought to you exclusively by Vintage Body Spa and can be used as a shower gel, shampoo, or hand soap on even the youngest, most sensitive of skin.</font></p><p><font face="Verdana" size="2">

Why would all of that extra information be getting added? That seems to be what is causing the problem, because if I remove it
everything drops down....

Re: Zen programmers plz help!!!!!

I recommend removing this line from the bottom of your main stylesheet

#mainWrapper p{width:550px; margin-top: -130px; margin-left:50px;}Think you may like the result.

Re: Zen programmers plz help!!!!!

You appear to be missing a closing div tag, but I can't tell you exactly which one it is. The end result is that your rightbox div is not being closed before the leftbox div is opened - that's probably what's screwing up the layout

Re: Zen programmers plz help!!!!!

It looks like you are entering descriptions in plaintext, inserting format tags where absolutely necessary, and she is using a text editor which puts HTML tags everywhere. Is this the case?

OMG Kuroi if you lived closer I would kiss you!!!!!!!!!!!!! How did you figure that out?!?!?! I guess I will just create a div for that text.....but the strange thing is the site has been fine with it in there for the last few weeks....why would it all of a sudden do that when editing pages....not sure how that all plays a part......

Either way THANK YOU, you are my hero!!! :wub::wub:

Re: Zen programmers plz help!!!!!

Which wysiwyg editor is she using?

It may also be that she is happily formatting the page in this editor (which accounts for the additional font descriptions, etc).

Less sophisticated editors (such as freebee editors) still use html tags to format elements, rather than using css.

Re: Zen programmers plz help!!!!!

You appear not to be using <p> tags for your descriptions, while your client's editor puts them everywhere.

The #mainWrapper p {} targets all <p> tags inside the mainWrapper - i.e. every one on your site. If you want to format paragraphs in descriptions, use a rule like

#productDescription p {width:550px; margin: 1.0em 0.5em;}

or whatever specifics you actually want. The
margin-top: -130px; margin-left:50px;
would cause havoc if generally applied; it looks tailored for a very specific location.

Not sure that creating another div would be a good idea. Other posters are right that there some problems with matching opening and closing div tags.

Finding it was just a matter of reading the clues. The difference between the descriptions entered by you and your client were the p and font tags. When you switched to classic (often a useful diagnostic move) the problem went away. So it had to be an interaction between those tags and how the template was handling them, ergo the stylesheet.

Lesson: Good things come to those who tweet.:wink:

Re: Zen programmers plz help!!!!!

I appreciate everyones help!

Kuroi where you coming to that you will be out this way? Must be something good so I want to be sure I am not missing anything!!!!

And why would these div issues not show up in Dreamweaver when I do a validation...I am not seeing them anywhere...

I had to get that text to lie underneath the image so what other option would there be to do...I have it as a DIV now and all seems to be well in all the browsers I just tested..

I know I still have to finish validation on the site....but I did a quick validation about 2 weeks ago to find any big issues and nothing major like DIV tags ever came up!

Maybe I am validating wrong?!?!?!
