Change multiple attributes to "Display Only" status?

I have attributes for a lot of products that say "<please select>", and I found out many of these are set to a "Display Only" status. Instead of going one by one to each attribute and changing the status, is there anything I can do to change the status all at once? All the different attributes have the same exact "<please select>" text.

You are correct, I do not want it to be selectable. But I would like it to be shown in the tab so they know to select an option.

If you set it as:
Default YES
Display Only YES
Sort Order 0

it should display as the first thing that they see and not be a valid choice ...

Right, I understand how to do it for one product, but I have many products that I would like to set this option on. I just don't know how to do this option on multiple items (if at all possible). It will take a long time to go to each attribute and change the display only one by one.

How many Option Names are using this setting?
