URGENT! customer can't order!

Hey all,

I am using V1.3.8. For my processing I am using Paypal Standard.

Is there a setting that I am missing in Admin that would cause the following symptom? This is the second time this type of email has come from this customer. (I don't think this is a joke as he has purchased before albeit with fewer items).

I have got a problem : i can't buy ..
I can log i : then my cart is full of 6 items .. But I can't go to sheckout
..
It says cartempty ... and i cannot log in anymore ..
Can you help me ?
("Customer")

The only point at which I see "0 items in cart" is when I have logged out. Using the customers email, I log in with my admin password and I follow the checkout procedure all the way to the PayPal site. I cannot re-produce the symptom?

I even tried clearing his cart and having him start over to no avail.

I am stumped and this is a decent size order that he would like to place.

Anybody ever seen this???

Re: URGENT! customer can't order!

Hi there
I haven't had this happen and it seems strange that you can process the order, anyhow to not loose process the order for the customer. Whenever I have a problem I offer the customer offline payment options (eg direct bank transfer or manual C/C processing) and then process the order for them. If they are serious about the purchase they will buy if not maybe they were stringing you along afterall.

Re: URGENT! customer can't order!

I have gotten used to checking in daily with my Paypal account to see if any orders have come through so I can check the buyers cart by logging into their account with my password and so far what they have ordered is still in the cart.

I suspect the reason this is happening is that whenever someone orders with a credit card instead of using a Paypal account the IPN does not return and the store does not see a completed order so it leaves the item(s) in their cart.

We are considering a completely different merchant account because of this.
