Can I use both USPS and Zone shipping Modules?

We have been using Flat Rate since the beginning of our store...however it's not the greatest for us. With shipping becoming an issue at times, we would like to find a solution the best serves both our customers and us. We don't like people paying too much or (especially) too little, but we have averaged the costs out for Flat Rate.

Today I finally looked into it and discovered Zone Shipping. That seems great because we ship mainly to US, but also to Canada and overseas. It would be nice to have 3 zones set up. But we would also like to utilize the other module I discovered today which is the USPS Shipping Module.

My question is, can both be utilized? Is it possible to have one set up and use the other. Or am I making this too difficult, it sounds like USPS will provide actual shipping charges based on shipping address, and we use USPS for everything (Canada and International). So maybe I only need that ONE module, not sure because I have never used it.

A little help/guidance would be great.

Thanks

Mike

For your situation, I would go with both USPS and UPS. Both will accurately reflect costs IF you accurately report weight. With both, you can add tare amounts to cover boxes, etc.
With the options of each, your customers can select whether they want the item on a rocket today or strapped on a mule for delivery next month.
Most will appreciate the choices.
Remember to not list things you cannot support. For instance, if you cannot make an item in less than two days, you certainly could not offer overnight shipping.
