Help! Can't install template.

Okay, I'm in real trouble here. I don't even know if I am posting this question correctly. :frusty:

I have installed Zen Cart through Fantastico through my host. Right off the bat, from the installation instructions it says to use your ftp client (What is that?), and then to drag contents of the includes folder to your Zencart install (Where is that?).

This may be too advanced for me. I appreciate your patience, thank you,
Valerie

Re: Help! Can't install template.

An FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client allows you to transfer files from your local computer to your website. FileZilla is a good one available free on the net.

Your "Zen Cart install" is your website.

Re: Help! Can't install template.

I have installed FileZilla. Do I put JustHost.com for the host and my username and password for JustHost? Or do I put my website name, and my username and password that I created for ZenCart? And what do I put for Port?

What do I put for Local site?

For Filename - I highlighted the Purpleshades template compressed file.

Re: Help! Can't install template.

You can upload the zip (compressed) file. Some hosts allow you to unzip it there, but you're probably better off unzipping it to your local drive (your computer) and uploading the unzipped folder.

The information you need to connect to your site via FTP should come from your hosting service. It should have been included in the information you received from them when you estrablished your website. It's usually something along the lines of ftp.yourdomain.com. The password is probably the same one you use to access your webmaster panel. I forget what port is standard... 23 maybe.

You shouldn't need any info for the "local" side of the FTP client. It should be reading the files on your computer automatically.

Re: Help! Can't install template.

I tried both and was denied. It won't accept my password for my domain site. :frusty:

Check with your hosting service. They may have a different system for doing things.

Re: Help! Can't install template.

Well, I think I made some progress. . .I finally figured out what host name and password, etc. to use.

I moved the "includes" folder over to what I thought was the Zen Cart Install (my website) and now purpleshades show up when I select Tools and Template selection, but when I click on preview I get this message::frusty:

The requested URL /includes/templates/purpleshades/images/scr_PurpleShades_.jpg was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
