Changing the download directory

I am trying to use a video server to provide customers with video courses. I have tried changing my download directory in configure.php to:
define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD', "http://www.csdvideo.org/");

but I get this warning in a big red box:
Warning: The downloadable products directory does not exist: http://www.csdvideo.org/. Downloadable products will not work until this directory is valid.

I am using 1.3.8a on a Linux server.

I have searched everywhere I can think of for an answer. I have tried single quotes, double quotes. I don't know PHP too well to know what I am doing wrong. HELP!!!

Re: Changing the download directory

Zen Cart does not serve downloadable content from different servers. It's designed to serve content from the same server as your store is running from.

To make it work differently will require custom coding to handle not only the proper pointing to the alternate URL, but also handle all security around content delivery to prevent theft ... which is much harder to do when hosting content elsewhere.

Re: Changing the download directory

I am at a loss how to do this then. I am trying to populate my store with video courses that contain multiple lessons each containing a video and a pdf. Each course has 3 options: they can purchase a DVD or download the lessons/pdfs, or just view the videos. Any suggestions for a plan of attack? Is it possible using Zencart?
