Limit number of items allowed in cart

I'd like to limit the number of items a customer can have in their cart at once. I actually want to make it single item checkout only, but I figure there might be a mod already written that would do this, and I'd just have to set the limit to "1".

I have not found a mod like that, so I am asking here.

Does anyone know of a mod that prevents checkout with multiple items in the cart, or prevents adding items to the cart if there are more than a certain amount of items already in the cart?

Out of curiosity ... why would you want to limit it to 1 and what do you want to have happen if the customer tries to add 2 ... :unsure:

I am making a site that sells business cards, postcards, door hangers...

I didn't want to allow uploads prior to checkout, so I wrote my own script that allows uploads on checkout_success.

Limiting the cart to a single item simplifies the processing of the uploaded images. (a single item would be a set of 5000 cards or whatever)

The answer you gave in another thread really helped.

If the customer tries to add another, they are to be told that only one item is allowed per-checkout.
