Free Standard Shipping only for Customers who DO NOT receive Group Discount Pricing?

Hi everyone. I am a newbie to using Zen-Cart, so first let me say that any feedback will be greatly appreciated. I have 2 groups of customers: (1) Direct Customers who order direct from the site and do not receive discount pricing unless they enter a coupon code and (2) Dealers who receive Discount Group Pricing. I want to offer Free Standard Ground Shipping to only Direct Customers and not to my Dealers who already receive Discount Group Pricing. Is this possible? I also want to make sure it is Standard Ground Shipping and that they will need to pay for any other method. Is this possible? What shipping module(s) are you using?

How are you identifying your two customer groups?

I'm not the original poster but I feel I have the same issue.

Group A "Normal" (who can qualify for free shipping) are not part of any special group discount but could use gift vouchers if they have any.

Group B "Trade" (who should never qualify for free shipping) are assigned a group via Group pricing to get their discount.

Free shipping options has be setup to give free shipping on orders over £40.

Both sets of customers are in the same shipping zone.

PS: I guess I could split the zones so specific postcodes are in a non-free shipping zone on the basis not too many people from group A are in the same area. I'd need to review how to make that work easily as 99% of postcodes qualify.

You could also customize the Free Shipping Options freeoptions shipping module to test the group that the customer belongs to and disable it for Group B ...

Although I'm not a total novice I do hate reinventing the wheel.

So as there isn't a pre-made solution, I like your option (testing for groups in a customised version) better than mine (messing with the zones).
