Customisation of Zencart

SORRY FOR MY LONG QUESTIONS.

I AM USING ZENCART 1.3.8 VERSION.

This is my first posting in this forum with a hope that someone will guide me.

As a Novice in Zen Cart (only four days) I am just want to know

(1) From where I can start?
(2) How Can I put one swf in place of the header?
(3) Through the tutorials I followed so far I was instructed to keep back up and I think the css file and the other files I am going to use must be the copy of the original ones and the original ones will be kept as back up. Am I right? If so then How can I point towards my NEW files.
(4) So far what I learn is can add Category, Add Products, Make some changes with the css files and that’s all. Now want to know how can I use other templates and change the look of the shop.

IF MY QUESTIONS DOES NOT HAVE ANY MEANING PLEASE IGNORE THEM.

HOPEFULLY CAN ANYONE GIVE ME ANY GOOD TUTORIALS FROM THE VERY BASIC WHICH WILL HELP ME.?

OK I think it is too much questions!

Sorry for that.

Regards

Re: Customisation of Zencart

First of all, concentrate on the tutorials about setting up a custom template which will answer many of your questions. If you're not sure about setting up your own template, there are many free templates available for Zen Cart which you can see at http://(sorry, site offline)/. They'll give you an idea of where to start and what's involved.

Re: Customisation of Zencart

You might want to use the Tutorial/FAQ link, top of this page, for more info on what you need.

The learning is in the doing.

Re: Customisation of Zencart

Very basic questions not upto the standard.

My age inZen Cart is only four / five days. However trying to customize my own design I made a folder in template folder just like below and the name of the folder is custom.

  1. Zencart/include/templates / custom
  2. in the custom folder I made these folders
    (a) Images ( just make a copy)
    (b) css (just make a copy)
© Common (just make a copy)
    (d) Side box (just make a copy)

(e) Templates (just make a copy)

And copy template_info.php page and changed it accordingly.

DO I HAVE TO COPY ANY OTHER FILES HERE.?

With the help of CSS I am going to insert the header image , side header image and so no. At the header position I saw a text that goes like this “Tag Line here” and I want to change it but cannot trace where it is .

Any help ?

All the free templates are available for download. There's a download link for each one on the site I mentioned in my previous post and there's also download links in the Free Software Add On section (see link at top of page).

Re: Customisation of Zencart

"Tag line here" is located in includes/languages/english/header.php. Copy it into includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/ and edit it as desired.

There's a great tool in admin>tools>developer's tool kit which will allow you to search for terms like that and find the file you need to change.

No problem! Zenners help Zenners. Trust me. It's only a matter of time before you're helping new Zenners get their feet under them.
