Resizing Product images

Hi all.
I'm pretty new to ZenCart but have gotten my new installation configured successfully and running a custom Template (Nifty Zen) with the dual-price add-on also working.

My problem is with product images. I want all the different incidents on my image to look good but it seems I have to choose between having the _LRG version looking good (with all the smaller ones having stepped edges)... Or I can make the smaller ones look good (but I have to give up the full-size image attached to the "enlarge" link.

After much messing around and changing different settings and image locations, I tried installing Image Handler 3.0 and crashed the whole site.

Can anyone give me a hand?
Surely there's a solution to this!

Image handler is the cure and should have been a simple install
You only need your large image uploaded to the /images dir and it handles resizing on the fly

Installing seemed easy enough but here is the error I got:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare bmz_clear_cache() (previously declared in /home/content/t/a/m/tammylovestoys/html/admin/includes/functions/extra_functions/functions_bmz_io.php:15) in /home/content/t/a/m/tammylovestoys/html/includes/functions/extra_functions/functions_bmz_io.php on line 14

If I knew how to cure this, maybe I would be okay.
Any thoughts?

What version of ZenCart?
What version of IH2?

ZC 1.3.8
IH 3 (maybe that was my mistake?)

I got IH installed but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Small images are still jagged. I tried changing image size defaults in the Configuration section but this doesn't solve the problem.

hi , I had been looking in the media uploader and saw that allows the resize of images. It just looks like I'll make a new 'Manual' for them to add products

Did you look at the enlarged image? It looks fine to me. The original upload is 412x550 px.... and I thought everything would be down-sized from there. Am I wrong?

I have higher resolution versions that I could use if necessary but I didn't think that would be helpful.

I may appear ok to you when viewed large but it is not a quality image
