Product set up

Is there a way to load products from a file without going through the normal setup of categories and products? I have lots of products and would like to upload from an external file.

First manually create a couple of categories and add produsts to them so the structure will be evident then get the 3rd party module - easypopulate and follow the instructions - - Backup DB always before messing with it
