Display Products When Only 1 SubCategory?

Hi all,

On our site there are a couple of Categories that only contain a single SubCategory (I know that's largely pointless, however we receive a data feed from a distributor which contains all of the products, some of which have this structure).

Is anyone aware of a way that such a SubCategory can be 'skipped' if there is only one (similar to how product listing can be skipped when there is only one product)?

https://www.itconnexions.co.uk

Many thanks.

Nevermind...
No, there isn't a built-in way to do this. It could probably be coded, but is likely to be quite complex.

Can be done, you can use an auto_loaders class, checking if visitors are viewing a category page, and if this category has one single sub cat (by querying the database), then do the redirection.

I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me

Re: Display Products When Only 1 SubCategory?

Maybe you could run the feed through EasyPopulate and apply some restructuring to it before uploading to your db? I don't know if it's possible to do that kind of manipulation as I haven't used EP.

So this redirection wouldn't change the sidebox display, only show a deeper subcat if applicable. Are the single subcats named the same as their parents, or will this redisplay cause confusion when the user sees a different category open than what they clicked on?

Thankyou for your replies.

Yes, the SubCategories have different names to the parent categories.

I thought that doing it through EP may be the best bet.

Many thanks.
