Under Construction - Mail

Hello,

I'm looking to create a web commerce i'm a total newbie but i'm motivated :)

My first step is to get on my domain an under construction page with the possibility for future clients to put their email to be advised on launching day.

So from what i have understood i need to upload or install zen cart on my host, configure it and..

Version Zen Cart i don't not yet, maybe u could recommend

No addons yet

And then what do i do ? create a webpage saying under construction or is that feature already in the cms

and for the email do i need to had code ?

What about the data base, how will the cms handle my it can i re-use in the future for the newsletter ?

A lot of questions i know, i appreciate the help.

It is possible to install Zen Cart, then set it to show a Site Down for Maintenance screen. And you can configure it to allow you in with full site view so you can work on it while others just see the Maintenance screen. But I don't think there's anything on that screen to allow you to collect email addresses.

Best bet may be to create a simple HTML page called index.html (so it gets loaded by default into any browser that comes calling.) Then put your email-collect form into that page. In the meantime install Zen Cart in a sub-folder and work on it there. When you're ready to launch, move it from the sub-folder to your main domain and you're in business.
