cpanel backup of cache/sess_ files

I am getting errors from one of my zencart sites in cpanel.

Cpanel cannot back up 2 files in the cache folder:

cache/sess_0e4b16e6cb9245c15b9c04e46a517423 chmod 600

and

cache/sess_5c9bf89affafad473c236010df60affd chmod 600

It is definitely a permissions issue, but do i need these files here. This particular zencart installation is an older one that has been upgraded to 1.3.8a and I'm not sure as to when these files were created.

My other zc installs dont seem to have these sess_ files in there.

My question is, can I safely delete this files, and have i set something on this zc version that causes this, that should be changed ?

You do not need to backup the sess_XXXXXXXXXXX files.
They're only used for active shoppers, and as such are pointless when restoring from a backup, and thus don't need to be part of your backups.
