Notify on new newsletter subscriber

Hi all,
I'm putting together a Zen Cart shop for a client.
This may seem silly, but they don't want to use the ZenCart newsletter feature, but rather would like to keep using their Constant Contact account for newsletters.

What happens when a new user registers and wants to subscribe to the newsletter? Can I get the cart to email the admin so they can add this new user to the Constant Contact newsletter list?

Or is there a way to get a list of all users who have subscribed within a certain time period, so maybe they can check for new subscribers once or twice a month?

Did you take a look here:

admin panel/ tools/ send email

1. click the drop down for Customers
2. If client does not need Newsletter Unsubscribe Link
   A. Admin Panel/ Configuration/ Email Options/ Display "Newsletter Unsubscribe" Link = false

You are required to give the customer the option of opting out of a newsletter and I'm not sure that just the opt out in the create account e-mail is sufficient.

Without a ton of coding, you could send a copy of the create an account e-mail to the individual(s) doing the constant contact. Adding a flag in that e-mail that identifies whether the customer subscribed or not should be fairly simple.

dbltoe, I think you may have the right idea there. Create some kind of function that will run on a new account creation that sends an email to the admin if the new user selected to subscribe. I'll poke around some of the files this weekend and see what kind of damage I can do. :cool:
