Is Zen Cart good for this use?

I have a client who needs a searchable product database. He wants people to be able to type in (or just choose) a motor cycle make and model and for them to be given a list of available products for that bike. He wants any result which doesn't return a matched model to give a return of all models for that make.

He does not want people to be able to order online, or to even think that they are using a shopping cart. In essence, all he wants is a searchable catalogue.

If this is possible, then he'd also like to be able to put the catalogue onto a CD to send to people and to be able to export the database as a CSV to import into MYOB.

Thanks for your input,

Bruce

ZenCart is not designed to become a portable packaged solution in its self. This would have to be written as custom or licensed from some existing source.

You basic want is for "dependant" attributes. ZenCart does not have support for this specialized form of attributes at this time.
