Numbers at bottom of admin area - what do they mean?

On the admin area it says "Zen Cart v1.3.8a/v1.3.8" why the slash - what do they mean?

the first value (v1.3.8a) is the version of your files - it is taken from the file includes/version.php
the second value is the database version - taken from the project_version table in the database.

If the values differ in anything other than the letter at the end, then either the files or database have been upgraded without the other.
So if you see, for example, v1.3.8a/v1.3.7 the files have been updated, but the database hasn't. (In that case you'll have an alert at the top of the admin page advising you that the database appears to need upgrading)
