Adding a second language to the store

I am looking all over to find out how to add a second language to the store. I dont want anything fancy. I downloaded the French language pack but i dont want to REPLACE the English, but instead, give the option to the customers, to see the store in French or in English. I have seen stores where you just click the littel flag icon and the whole store shows up the righ language.

How do i do that? Can you direct me to a tutorial or explanation on that? Maybe it is in the forum somewhere, but i cannot find it.

The language pack shouldn't replace the english language files. The should be added in addition to the existing language files. I haven't used any of them, but lots of folks on the forum have and I'm sure someone will be able to help you.
