How Do I Make Whats New Show in Center Collum on Home Page?

I dont think my home page file is calling for it , because i have it turned on and its showing on other pages , i want it to show on the home page only

it was already set at 1 , i dont think my main page has the html to call for the center collom boxes what is this code so i can add it

I have tried this

$tpl_whats_new.php

with no avail

when i set Categories - Always Show on Main Page to "1" the new products shows on the index but it imports stuff i dont want there too

All i want to do is show my New Products Sidebox on the index page only i have tried a ton of different fixes from using search here and none of them are working for me i have tried adding

ive been tring to do this for about 6 hours i have every setting confgured correctly in my admin cp , the new products is showing everywhere but the index and i want it showing only on the index , im about to claw my eyes out here ,HELP!

im trying to display my new products box in the center collum of my home page only

Box Details:
Box Name: whats_new.php
Left/Right Column Status: OFF
Location: (Single Column ignores this setting) LEFT
Left/Right Column Sort Order: 0
Single Column Sort Order: 1
Single Column Status: ON

i can make it show on the rigght and left of the home page but it just wont show in the center

I think it has something to do with the index not being in a category ...hummmm it does show in each category and i can get the featured to show in the center of the index , how can i fool the new products to show on the home page with out it importing the categorys above it , the categories are already on my index i dont need them on there twice ,

on the index if it could show random from all categories that would be great
