i got one more question

do I add only sitemapindex.xml in google webmasters and yahoo ? as its got all other map links in it? so i not double links

like i should not add sitemapcategories.xml there as its already in sitemapindex.xml ? is that right?

cuz i see sitemapindex.xml is enough for google, but cant see if its ok with yahoo?

sitemapindex.xml is the only link you need to submit as they are all smart enough to process the links inside that file. You also want to include this in your robot.txt file. If you want to submit individual sitemap you can do that but then you will not submit sitemapindex.xml in that case.

so what i do after add new products and categories?, (i got crontab set up already), so cron is generating sitemap everyday, so i dont need to do it manaly, right? do I have to ping search engines?, or just leave it, and they will find it anyway (yahoo, goodle) ?(ping - step 2 in zen admin setemaps)

You open up the install.sql statement and copy and paste it into you admin/tools/install_sql_patches. You then should have what you are missing under tools. If you get an error after trying to create a sitemap follow these instructions.

Invalid URLs in the site map

I've installed simple seo url with link alias on. When I generate the sitemaps all my products URLs are generated as follows.

http://www.mysite.co.uk/-c-0/products_name1
http://www.mysite.co.uk/-c-0/products_name2
http://www.mysite.co.uk/-c-0/products_name3

etc

But the categories URLs are correct.

Have I done something wrong ? Can someone help me to fix this error.

Thanks for the response, but I tried to follow the instructions and didn't have any joy.

In /includes/.htaccess there was no line with:

(It also wasn't in /.htaccess)

The content was:

<Files *.php>
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
</Files>

I did put in the line below and test - but no joy:

Was I looking in the wrong place?

Ahh ok buddy, sorry but the fix I was talking relates to Zen Cart v1.3.9x (due to the introduction of .htaccess based safety measures throughout the various Zen Cart directories).

Yes that happens sometime. Always a good idea to rename your admin folder for security reason, but never forget when adding on any add on change it to whatever your custom folder name is. Glade you got it worked out.

I hope this isn't a stupid question but for some reason sitemapxml used "&" instead of "&amp" on some of the links in my ezpages sitemap and google doesn't like it. All other sitemaps are working fine.

Using latest version of sitemap (just installed it a few days ago) and have Zen-Cart 1.3.9d

Any help you can offer on why it is doing this would be appreciated.

[edit] posting the contents of the sitemap below. It seems it is also leaving out a ";" which may actually be the larger issue.

Well, I am still hoping someone knows how to fix this because for everyone using 1.3.9 this is a real issue.

With Zen Cart 1.3.9, it now generates a canonical url (which includes the cPath for all product). However the url that is generated by the sitemap does not include the cPath for the product url.

It will be nice to have a sitemap that is generating a consistent url to the one that we are passing to the search engines as the canonical url.
