SitemapXML v.2

Hi,

flernebunu:

Hi,

I'm thinking to install this module alongside with Ultimate SEO Urls.
Are they compatible?
SitemapXML compatible with Zen-Cart and use standart zen-cart api's. So it comatible with Ultimate SEO Urls.

flernebunu:

Is there a better combination?
Better combination for what? You talk about SEO? For seo you don't need sitemap and url's. For SEO you need a good content, user-friendly design. good snippets and much more.

An XML sitemap helps the search engines to find all your content, and helps the search engines report back to you how much of your site is indexed, so they are important.

Also, relevant URLs can be a big help in determining content relevance - but I would approach any URL management tool for something as complex as Zen-Cart with caution, as they can easily cause more problems than they are worth.

However, proper structure, good content, and ease of use (especially for search engine spiders) contribute greatly to SEO - and, of course, having something people want and want to link to is also highly important.

I can't speak to the initial question regarding the compatibility of these two modules, but would rank the site maps as more important in the long run. good content and proper structure should more than make up for less than ideal URLs.

Sitemap does not help if you have a site with a poor structure, no unique content, without reviews, inconvenient for visitors.
If you have a good site, all the necessary pages are found and indexed without a sitemap.

weif:

helps the search engines report back to you how much of your site is indexed
Yes, I agree, as a tool, site really allows us to determine how well your site is indexed. And wonder why some of the pages are not indexed.

weif:

ease of use (especially for search engine spiders)
Do not think about the comfort for robots, think about the convenience of visitors, but do not forget about the robots. Do not forget that sites appreciate not only the robots, but the assessors.

seems like zen cart is trying to recreate the page...

CORE zencart usually behaves perfectly... It starts to go pear-shaped when silly add-ons are forced into the system - like facebook nonsense and SEO URL's.

Nearly three-quarters of a million views have been made on threads dealing with URL re-write - indicating the HUGE number of people who have screwed up their sites by installing it.

Those addons are not the problem for me ...I've backed up the site on day 1 and I still can't get the facebook debugger to work correctly with my site.

Hi,

I was hoping I could just include it to my zencart plugin so I only have 1 to deal with. I assume this is not the wsy to do it

You're wrong - it is a plugin for Zen-Сart, not WordPress. For WordPress use WordPress Plugins.

Another approach is sing a WordPress XML Sitemap plugin and adding a link to the Zen Cart HTML sitemap to your WordPress XML sitemap and that could cover both in one XML sitemap..

In Google WMT You can add several sitemaps. For example, if we use WordPress SEO plugin we can add 2 sitemaps to Google WMT:
http://stickerstocker.co.uk/sitemap.xml
http://stickerstocker.co.uk/blog/sitemap_index.xml

Re: SitemapXML v.2

Ok I saw that the patch does not have something like google xml file and in page 11x someone explains it's been left there since an earlier version...so I assume it should be ok as it is.

Re: SitemapXML v.2

I have an issue with the w3c validator:
Warning No DOCTYPE found! Checking XML syntax only.

The DOCTYPE Declaration was not recognized or is missing. This probably means that the Formal Public Identifier contains a spelling error, or that the Declaration is not using correct syntax, or that your XML document is not using a DOCTYPE Declaration.

Validation of the document has been skipped, and a simple check of the well-formedness of the XML syntax has been performed instead.

How can I change so that the validator returns with no problems?
