Wrong Calculations

It is charging a penny more for sales tax

Sub-Total:

$10.00
Ground Shipping (Shipping Rate for the Lower 48 States.):

$0.88
ME Sales Tax:

$28.28
Total:

My sales tax rate is 5%

Should only be .87 cents

I seem to recall chasing something similar with australian gst
in the end it was to do with php's round function.
what was the base price and tax inc price of the above order?

Re: Wrong Calculations

It was two 8.70 items i had in the shopping cart the tax on one 8.70 item would be 0.435 so they are rounding it up to .44 which is normal to do, but if you buy 2 of them it should input the correct tax which would come out to .87 cents

0.435 x 2 is .87 cents not the .88 the cart charges

Re: Wrong Calculations

In the admin, where you set up currencies, there is a setting for the number of decimal places. Usually this is set to 2, but if you set it to 3 it will now round after the third digit, which will give the correct tax. Unfortunately, this setting will also show 3 digits after the decimal on your visible prices as well.

That's the way Zen Cart is at the moment. I hope in future we can have two settings there -- one for calculations and one for display.

Down at the bottom of this page there are some Similar Threads with more discussion in them.
