SSL - Will it work on all pages?

Hi,

I'm poised to launch a Zen shop for the first time and my payments will be taken only via Paypal Standard.

I understand I technically don't have to get an SSL certificate as the credit card info will be handled by Paypal. However, as I'm going to be taking customer contact information, I prefer the idea of getting one.

The question is: will an SSL certificate actually work for what I want it to? After speaking to another developer, he suggested that an SSL with Zen will only work on certain pages, rather than on which pages I specify.

Help?!

when using ssl with zen cart
by default,
only pages that users are required to enter information in
login, register account history and such
and all pages regarding checkout....

other than that ssl is not needed
