CC processing on but will not accept cards

I'm running the original install of 1.3.7 I have authorize.net_aim as the payment processor. I've elected to accept Visa & MC.

When I attempted to check out(step 3) I get the little red banner of death stating: "This transaction cannot be accepted. Your credit card could not be authorized for this reason. Please correct any information and try again or contact us for further assistance."

I've used test cards numbers as well as my own personal cards with the same negative results.

This occurs in either test or live mode. I have a vaild gateway loginID & password installed. And the processor is configured to
allow Visa & MC charges only. I have turned on debug log and email, but nothing is ever written to either.

I've read in other threads that there are similar issues, but not quite the same as mine.

Any ideas, my patience wears very thin.

Post whatever debug data gets recorded in the logs or emails.

Installed the patch. Same results.

I'm using SSL. The URL never changes to the SSL location in the browser window. I have the correct location
set in both config files. Any ideas?

SSL seems to be working correctly. It does switch when requesting customer data. I needed to clear my browser cache.

Same error persists. Where does this version of AIM write it's debug log?

The debug log is emailed to the store owner's email address, if you have it enabled to send by email. If you have it set to save files, then those should appear in the /cache/ folder.
