Limit Products by State

I would like to make certain products only available one per state. Can anyone tell me how to do this or point me to the right modification?

I have searched the FAQ's and the forum, but have not pulled up the right responses. I am running the latest version of ZC.

You could add a new field to the products table for the products_state and utilize that when a customer is logged in ...

You could control adding to the cart with the function used for the add to cart and buy now buttons:
zen_get_buy_now_qty

by adding an additional test for the new field and handling what button or text gets sent back to any calling program ...

To do something like this, you may want your shop setup so that the customer must be logged in to "buy" ... they can still see everything, but they would not be allowed to add to the cart until they are logged in ...

Could this be achieved by using the zone restrictions? I don't fully understand that feature.

If you look in the shipping modules, you can see how a Zone is tested for, such as in:
/includes/modules/shipping/storepickup.php

and you would need to change what is being tested, as this isn't an order, but the concept is there ...
