Voiding Order Authorizations

In ZenCart 1.3.8a, editing a Customer Order, the following message is in the "Voiding Order Authorizations".

"If you wish to void an authorization, enter the authorization ID here, and confirm:"

What is the Authorization ID? The e-mail address used in PayPal and the PayPal password does not work.

Thanks,
Katrina

Re: Voiding Order Authorizations

You'll need the Transaction ID from the original authorization, which should be in the PayPal details in the order comments.

Re: Voiding Order Authorizations

Hi.

In testing my gift certificate process and the Paypal Express process (since the Paypal Sandbox was very problematic for me), I reversed my actual transaction in Paypal Express and gave myself a full refund. I then went to the Admin, and saw that the gift certificate was still active and waiting to be released.

I read the above post and voided the transaction, but am not sure what that accomplished, as I then read the following post:

"How to delete a non release GIFT-certificate?" where Camay123asked how to delete a gift certificate without releasing it, since the writer's client canceled the gift certificate order.

Ajeh wrote:
In phpMyAdmin, you can browse the table:
coupon_gv_queue
and set the field:
release_flag
on the record for that customers_id to something other than N, such as C, for Canceled ...

Now you still have the Order and the Record of the Gift Certificate, but you do not need to release it and it is not flagged for release ...

Camay 123:
If I delete the order, does the gift certificate disapear ?

Ajeh:
No it does not ...

Set the Order Status to something else ... having a: Canceled order status is a good idea ...
Then, change the field on the: coupon_gv_queue
just to ensure it is not able to be released ...

So now I am wondering what the purpose of voiding the transaction is, and whether I still need to release the gift certificate to eliminate it from the queue (since it is my own dummy transaction), and if I really need to try the phpMyAdmin process Ajeh advises of. I am just learning phpMyAdmin and would prefer a menu transaction that I can do when not wide awake with nerve activated.

The 17-page "Gift Certificate Help" topic didn't cover this, but I will keep reading, and post if I find the answer.

P.S. I am not sure how to post a link to another thread; the bookmarks below are very long. I shall try inserting a link here, copy the bookmark, and check to see if the html will show properly when this message is sent.

Re: Voiding Order Authorizations

Update.

Through this forum I found an add-on to administer the Gift Certicates through Admin, which I hope will be more straightforward than going through phpMyAdmin. The link is as follows: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&cPath=40_41&products_id=553

(When I copy a link into the "add link" icon pop-up on this message, it is copied twice between the and the. This time I left it in there twice, and will check to see if it comes out correctly after the message is submitted.)

Maybe this information will help someone.
