Too many abandoned sales

I have the "recover cart sales mod" installed and I've noticed that we have many sales that were abandoned. We have already offered new customers 10% off there first purchase and while we have seen a few orders, more seem to be abandoning the sale. Any ideas?

Your FedEx images are missing on your Checkout Shipping page, at least in IE, but I don't know if that would stop anyone from buying.

The site looks and operates fine to me, and abandoned carts are pretty common to all ecommerce sites.

It's possible that you're getting a lot of minors trying to buy wine, and when they read in your (required reading) Privacy Statement that an adult has to sign for the shipment, they're taking off.

Have you asked those folks why they left?

We changed the email text for the recover cart email. One of the new things we put in was an offer of a discount coupon for replying to our email. We get a pretty good reply rate now, you might want to try that to see if it will help.

Set up goal tracking through google analytics (Free). I was able to see that most of my customers were bailing at the payment page. I was sending people to paypal for processing. I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to the website payments pro. My lost customers (ones who have put stuff in their cart) have diminished greatly!

What if I want to purchase a present for my relatives in the the US?

I assume that you only deliver to the US.
I can't be sure as I can't get that far to see :(

Here in Australia I get a lot of customers from the UK and US that want to deliver to relatives and friends here in Australia. (I only deliver to Oz)

I have never seen this type message and did not know it was possible.

What makes this message appear? Is it automatic based on the countries in your drop down menu on the create account page?

I would like to know how to prevent or control the contents of this message...and what makes it appear.

You can use geoip (as used in the user tracking mod) to work out the country of origin, based on the IP of the computer
They have created a response effectively banning anyone from outside the US from even viewing the website.

This is not foolproof as you can bypass this by using a proxy server.
As well if its a company computer of a world wide organisation then it may not show the correct country of origin because of the network that they work on
