Evaluating Zen Cart for a client

Just FYI; You can grab the mod and set up a "sandbox" account on google to test the mod. Ittl let you go through installing and setting things up and getting it to work all without using real money. Once you are happy, you can switch from the fake google account to a real one.

Actually trying it out this way would answer many of your questions and doubts about it.

It's an attractive idea but I decided to abandon ZEN CART as a candidate because this whole things simply smells too fishy to me:
Jen

What's fishy is your method of evaluation. Five posts and you're done?? Limelights and Kiddo both have Google checkout working and they're both very active in the community so I'd bet that they may have given a little help had you not been so hasty in your decision making.

If I were your client I'd be more than a little concerned about your methodology and evaluation process - I'm not sure he/she is getting an informed opinion.

Exactly. I managed to make GCO work (for digital delivery!) thanks to the help I received through this forum.
LOL - is that you who posted several requests for help regarding GOOGLE CHECKOUT and didn't receive any reply? :P

Searching this site for GOOGLE CHECKOUT yields many unanswered problems but yours exemplifies more freshly what I mean.

What makes you think I didn't try that?

Five posts is what you see on the surface. What you don't see is the amount of research I put into each of the candidates. Besides, are you suggesting that I should spam the forum in order to look more methodological in your eyes? :shocking:

Re: Evaluating Zen Cart for a client

You stated that you have made up your mind, and im not going to try to change it but you never answered my question

WHATS fishy about it,
that a mod was written by a third party?
There are a TON of payment processors out there, if a cart was to create a mod for each it would 1 take WAYYYYYYYYYYY to much time
and 2 would so bloat the code.

so this is where third party writers come in....
yo can then pick and choose what you want

the only issue that any of our hosting customers using Zen Cart have had with GC is when first setting it up you have to go through an extra step on our servers.....

otherwise we have never heard anything bad

From the tone and tenor of your posts it seemed as though your mind was made up prior to asking the question.

You needn't spam the forum. No one here will fault you for asking pertinent questions in order to get the answers you seek. Everyone in the community is here for the same reason - the betterment of the project and to help each other.

I'm sorry that Zen Cart doesn't seem to work for you and your client and I wish you the best.
