How did you hear about us?? help pls

Since our site is been up for awhile I really wanted to add this mod of how did you hear about us. Where when I person makes an account to purchase they have to check off how they found us. I have read and tried the mod info however I can not get it to work at all. The problem may be that I am not a website designer or programmer. I know there has been posts before about it, but is there anyone who could walk me through exactly how to get it to work with my zencart 1.3.8a. I would need a simplified instruction sort of thing to help me step by step. I know I am asking a lot but I would greatly appreciate it. If anyone would be willing to work with me I would appreciate it and would offer a discount to our store. I know its not a lot but it shows my gratitude. Please msg me if you can help.

Prissy, it's actually pretty easy........just unzip your files, upload them to your server (keeping local and remote directories in sync), run the SQL file from Admin>Tools>Install SQL Patches. Done.

You will find a new field at the bottom of your Create Account page, and also a new entry in Admin>Configuration>Customer Details (Require Referral) to make it a requirement upon account creation, or not (default is set to require).

I tired it but it is not working, however when I look at the ftp I am wondering if I have uploaded the files to the wrong directory? I noticed that there is several admin /includes files within the setup.....on the ftp server... which one is correct? I am not sure where I upload when I log into my ftp this is what it looks like (see photo). See in the root there is admin, includes etc... is that where I upload it too? I tried it but it did not work.

If you look under public html or www directories there is more admin/.includes etc...... that may be the problem. I posted screens to show what i mean... does this help? any assistance

html or www directories is where you wanna be(Tip: they're actually the same files). When you unzip this mod, you will see the folders:

1. admin

2. includesand the files:

3. instructions.txt

4. install_referrals.sqlOpen the admin folder, you will see one folder:1. includesand 4 files:1. customers.php

5. Orders.php

6. referrals.php

7. stats_referral_sources
   , On your remote server, go to www/admin......copy and paste the 4 files (NOT the includes folder),over-write if you haven't ever made any other changes to these files.

Now, on each directory (local & remote), open the admin/includes folder, and repeat the above steps of copy and pasteing files untill all of them have been uploaded to your server.

Will this module force the current customers to update their profile? So that it is required them to have this input in?

No, Guru, unfortunately, at this time it does not.....sorry.
I believe that they CAN update the info if they want to......might send each customer an email asking them to include that info...????

Hi, I have installed this same module, run the install.sql, and everything seems OK - well, I'm still online anyway. I think I need to go into the Extras folder to configure my names, etc... under Referrals and Referral Sources, right? But, I keep getting a code:

Not Found
The requested URL /admin/referrals.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Obviously I'm missing something, but don't know what. If anyone could help me, I would appreciate it so much. That's the final thing I need to do to get my client up and running.

Got it! Turns out, the stats referral.php and referrals.php had not transferred over when I ftp'd. Did it and now it seems to be working great!

I'm considering installing this on my site. I have version 1.3.8 will it work?

I'm also very confused as to the upload/installation process... Can someone spell it out for me?

Nevermind - looks like I got this installed and working. BUT, is there any way I could add "/Referred By (name): after "Referral code" so people realise they could enter a name and don't need a special code?

Can I check stats on this anywhere in my admin?

I seem to be having troubles as well. I thought I got everything installed correctly, but it still doesn't work. I installed the SQL and am able to edit the referral options, but I don't see anything on the log in page. Can anybody help me out with this?

I can't find a support thread for this mod so I'll try asking here...

I got mine installed and new customers now see the applicable fields when registering but I still can't see the referral sources in Admin>Customers.
