How to install new template? - Newbee

Hai, i was newbee on Zen Cart. Anybody can explain in brief how to install new template. I tried by upload it to include/theme folder. But still no effect on the admin/tool site. Anybody can help?:shocking:

There should be instructions with the template. As haredo said, the folder which contains the template info should go under includes/templates. In order for it to be available in admin/tools/template selection, there has to be a includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/template_info.php file (where YOUR_TEMPLATE is the name of the custom template).

You should use the FAQ/tutorials (top of this page) and search on "template" for information and details on what to do. There is too much information you need to know, to post in one thread.

Where did you get the template you're trying to use? What's it called? Does it have a template_info.php file? Did you upload it to /includes/templates?

i used 'image-handler_2.0-zc137'...i upload to the folder, but still no joy.

Image Handler isn't a template or an FTP client. It can't upload anything. You need an FTP client like FileZilla (free from the net) to upload folders to your website.

Image Handler deals with displaying larger version of product images.

I am new. I do not like the look of the template that came with my subscription. Question is: where do you find templates to upload? Does anyone out there have a cool site that i can look at for some pointes?

I am new as well and am ALMOST at the finish line installing the Mother Earth template. I copied the entire folder that came with the template into includes/templates/ however, the actual URL shows the mother earth template but there are no sidebars or anything... The only thing visible is at the top there is a menu of the categories (and the header, footer and body).

How do I correct this? This template did not come with instructions. It just had files.

Never mind! I figured something out from another thread. I had to resert my layout boxes under tools... I can't figure out how to edit/delete my original post, sorry.

When you change to a new template, you have to reset the sideboxes. There's a mod available in the Free Software Add Ons section that will retain your old settings.

In the meantime, under admin>tools>layout boxes controller, see if there's a reset button at the bottom. If so, click it and your sideboxes should be back.
