Stock by Attributes v4.7ajax - why FLOAT instead of INTEGER?

I'm near to use Stock by Attributes v4.7ajax, and I'd like to know why in the TABLE 'products_with_attributes_stock' the field 'quantity' is defined FLOAT insted of INTEGER.
Can anybody tell me why?
