USPS error: 2147219434 - First Class mail must weigh 13 ounces or less.

I reinstalled the USPS module, put server as production, turned off debug mode, and still I receive the error: 2147219434 - First Class mail must weigh 13 ounces or less.

What am I doing wrong now? :dontgetit

Did you install the May 2008 USPS shipping module?

Also check your Tare settings in the Shipping/Packaging ...

And, check that you did contact USPS, after obtaining your USPS Web Tools User ID and had them Activate your account for use with the Production server ...

Every thing would have been great if I wasn't an idiot and skipped a step while updating the patch. :oops: Since I just overwrote the file instead of uninstalling through the admin settings, I receive this message when I look at my shipping settings:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class usps in /usr/www/users/jgreen23/catalog/includes/modules/shipping/usps.php on line 15

And my USPS module doesn't show up. I tried deleting the whole shipping module from the modules folder and reinserting it from the original Zen Cart, but that didn't work either. I've made an even bigger mess.

Any suggestions? :cry: Also, USPS said that on their end every thing is running fine.

Sounds like you have a duplicate or backup file for the usps.php or possibly copied the code to the language directory ...

In the Tools ... Developers Tool Kit ... in the bottom input box enter:
class usps

select Catalog ... and click search ...

You should only have 1 file with this in the:
/includes/modules/shipping/usps.php

If you find more than one, then that is the source of your error ...

:clap: I deleted all of the extra modules and replaced them exactly as they were in the original cart and success! Thanks so so much. You're the best! Now to upgrade and test it out. Wish me luck!

I followed all of the instructions on the thread you posted above and everything works! :clap: I am so excited. One success closer to changing my site from HTML to PHP. PHP isn't so bad. It just takes getting used to. It saves me from doing a whole lot of cut and paste. That's for sure. And I love having SSL. I am so happy. Thank you so so so much. One more question: I don't need to have both Zone Rate and USPS modules up do I? It looks like it's redundant to do so.

You decide how You want to offer shipping to your customers ...

If you ONLY want to offer USPS then ONLY install USPS ...

All modules for Shipping, Payment and Order Totals should be REMOVED if they are not being used ...

NOTE: on shipping modules such as USPS and UPS it matters if the customer lives in places such as Guam and thinks the country is Guam or the Country is the United States ...

The USPS shipping module gets its rate quotes from USPS which is follows the rules and guidelines of the United States Government and recognizes Guam as a "state" of the United States as it is a US Territory ...

UPS however, not being related to the United States Government recognizes Guam as its own Country ...

This means, that if the customer defines a Guam Address as:
State: Guam
Country: United States

then they will get a quote for USPS but not one for UPS ...

If the customer deines a Guam Address as:
Country: Guam

then they will get a quote for UPS but not for USPS ...

Some places run both shipping modules and others run one or the other and clean up the Zones/countries to work for the one that they use ...

I am trying to figure out what these mean and why I am getting them. Can someone help!

i'm getting this error too. the lady at the usps said i was activated for production and i've updated my usps.php file to the 2008 version.

can you tell me more about this step please? am i looking in the usps module? i'm not seeing anything that says Tare.:huh:

when selected, i can get the module to display rates for everything other than first class, but my dropshipper only uses first class and when i only have that option selected, i get this error. i've also got all the international options turned off.

Go to your Zen Cart Admin to the menu choice for:
Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

What are your settings there?

Based on your signature, you are using an out of date version of Zen Cart ... which makes me wonder if you are using an out of date version of USPS ...
