Shipping charge only if ordered alone?

Need some help please.

I have some products with different shipping rates. If a customer buys the main product, then it is normal Royal Mail charges, this is working ok.

If a customer ONLY buys accessories, then there is a flat rate of £2.50.

If they buy a product PLUS accessories, then shipping is only charged for the main product and the flat rate does not apply.

1. How can I set it up so that the customer does not pay for shipping for the accessories if they also buy the main product? But if they buy the accessories only, then they pay flat rate of £2.50 shipping?

2. If the customer buys 2 or more main products, then they are charge more for shipping. At the moment, if they buy 1 product and 1 accessory, then the store treats it as 2 products ordered and charges shipping twice! They should only be charged once as the accessory is shipped free (because they are buying the main product at the same time). Weird system but I'm using a dropshipper, not my choice. How can I solve this problem?

you have to code it as a policy...no current modules fit your needs. if I have enough time, I will help you

i'd certainly be interested in this module if you have the time - is exactly what i need, we sell bikes, and if someone buys 2 bikes then 2 carriage charges need to be paid but if they order accessories then they are carriage free as we would put them in the bike boxes, if they only buy accessories though then a flat rate accessories cariage rate would apply.

hi again, thanks for the PM ref this - we had a big technical glitch with the site so have been on other projects for a while - now back to this though - here goes - detail as per original message is still correct, but now new product adds a twist

cust buys a bike - pays a rate based on bikes value (table rate?), buys 2 or more bikes - pays multiple shipping rates (every bike needs a carriage charge)
cust buys accessories - pays a flat rate, customer buys accessories with a bike - only pays for bike carriage as bits will go in the bike box.
cust buys a quad or scooter - pays a flat rate (may be zone based - just waiting on boss to decide)
store collection on all products needs to be available - so FOC shipping
