Administrator directory is lost!!!

Some server issues last week resulted in a migration of my entire server and then back again.

Somewhere in transit, the administrator directory has VANISHED!
Store runs fine, but I cannot access backend.

Database appears to be intact.

How to I repair this issue and get my admin back? Can I just upload directory from install files?

Re: Administrator directory is lost!!!

I don't see why you couldn't upload a new set of admin files. Just edit the new admin config file.

Most mods don't touch the admin area, but check the source of any mods you are using to see if they upload anything to admin.

Just wondering, your admin dir didn't perhaps just get renamed somehow? or ended up with a "." in front of it?

Re: Administrator directory is lost!!!

no, it's just literally gone :(
The database tables look to be in tact via phpmyadmin tho
So if i upload the admin directory from install files ... and edit config ... how messed up is this all going to be?

I'm terrified of losing the shipping and custom mod settings that took me FOREVER to finally get right .

Re: Administrator directory is lost!!!

Well, before you do anything, try to cover every possible thing that you can do to find / recover the original files.

If no soap, back up everything you currently have left. Both the code dirs and the data. Squirl this away in a safe place and then get a fresh set of admin files from the download kit and ftp them into place.

Get the kits for any mods you have installed and check each one to see if they upload anything to the admin dir. If so, upload the admin parts of those kits.

Edit your admin config file and give it a shot. If your database is fine, it will probably fire up and let you in.

If not, hopefully you should get a meaningfull error message. If needed, post back here for more help.

Make SURE you have good backups of your shop and database before doing any of the above.

Good luck.

Re: Administrator directory is lost!!!

Ok, backed up sql and store/ directory

Question: This particular store was recently re-done, by my installing a new copy of zen in a new directory. I migrated all of the data over (customers, shipping, etc) and so on.

I did, however, change A LOT of pricing, attributes, products on the new store.

Would copying my admin directory from the previous version of the store be more likely effective than a fresh install version?

Re: Administrator directory is lost!!!

Pricing data and stuff is stored in the database. When you say reworked, do you mean "upgraded"?

If the old files are the same version as your current shop, try them. You have backups right?

If its a mess, delete the admin dir and upload a new one. Make sure the versions match.

Re: Administrator directory is lost!!!

Ok it worked ... I think.
I was able to log in after changing the admin/includes/config
I see new customers who visited today ... but no orders despite the fact that my client received 2 paypal payment notifications (but no order data)

Both stores were using same version of Zen Cart (latest version) and I have backups.

Coolies! Now you have control of your shop back!

Do a test order and see if it shows up as it should.

I'm sure. I've had a few scares myself. Not fun.
