Bulk Move Products to New Category

Does anyone know if there is a module out there anywhere that allows you to select ultiple products and move them to a new master category?
I have a lot of products in one category which need broke down into more relevant categories.

Any help would be much appreciated with this.

If you go to the Catalog/Products and into the Category of Products you want to move, click the C for Copy and there is the:
Multiple Categories Link Manager

If you then Link the Products you want to move to the other Category, you will see there are settings at the bottom that can remove Products from one Category to another ...

Backup before doing any of this ... :smile:

NOTE: Only Categories with at least 1 Product will show in the Multiple Categories Link Manager ...

What if the individual products in a category need to be divided further to more relevant categories?

The link manager is good if you want to link over ALL the products in the category, but is there a way of mass selecting 20 or so products at a time to link or move? Like a check box or something next to it to select a few at a time? Not all the products need to be linked / moved, just a few. By few I mean like 80 out of 300.

One by one would take a very long time. Is there a mod or can this be achieved? Is it in the new release?

What about duplicating the products to the new category and then deleting the ones you don't want?

Define a lot of products? Like 100, 1,000 or 10,000.

For less than 500 you can download quick update module which allow you to actually display (x) amount of product from one category on one page. You can select new categories to all the products on the page OR whatever amount you need to move then click update which then update all the products on that page.

For large patches of products that may take hours in quick update you can use myphpadmin and update products in bulk. But you have to have a good knowledge in database to do that.
