Decrease size of enlarged images

Hi

Using latest version of zen cart.

I would like to be able to decrease the size of the enlarged image. At the moment when you click on a photo to enlarge, if the photo was large when uploaded, the enlargement is the same size, huge! (if the pic you uploaded was huge).

Image sizes can be cnaged apart from the enlargement.

I have seen that you can fix the size of pop up window in modules/pages/product_info/jscript_main.php, but I tried this and it made no difference to the size of the pop up window, or photo - I'm not sure it will change the size of the enlarged product image anyway, just the pop up window.

Can anyone advise how i might go about this?

If this can be acheived it would save the client having to resize each image before upload.

For a lot of reasons (including file size), images should all be sized and optimized BEFORE they are FTP'd to the images folder.

There are many programs that can do batch processing - I use ULEAD for this purpose. Just the other day we re-sized 688 new images for a client... took 60 seconds...

I was kind of hoping that there might be a way to resize the enlargements, like you can any other images, bit strange that you can't, but thanks for that.

So I am totally new and having this same issue. All I did was take a picture, set up my product and then uploaded the image to my product page. Now when i click the image to enlarge, its massive!! I read the tutorial on this matter and was only confused further. So i need a program to re size my pictures before i upload them to my product page? I didn't upload to my images folder but directly to my product page. Here is my site. Any pointers or help would be appreciated .

Yes, you'll need some program to resize your images. The 'raw' image from most digital cameras is way too big to use as Zencart imagery. Zencart resizes the image to display in the product listing and product info page, but the file size remains the same. Product images should be <10Kb. Yours (for the Beast) is 210Kb. When you have more products, your pages will load very slowly.

One free program (simple, but will do the job) is paint.net (Windows only). You can also install the Image Handler 2 mod.
