Shipping Zones and Rates questions

Hi,
I hope this is neither too simplistic nor already explained, but I've done a fair bit of searching and spent lots of time looking... anyway, the only shipping module I have activated is zones (True), by weight. I am a musician and sell CDs. CDs weigh less than 0.3 lbs. I live in Canada. So what I've tried to do is as follows:

Zone 1 is CA, 0.31:3.50,0.5:5.50,0.8:9,1.2:12,10000:7%
Zone 2 is US, same but slightly more postage
Zone 3, the suggested other countries, more postage still

But shipping rates are not in step with this chart. The other day somebody from WA state ordered one, and the rate was $2.50. (Not sure where it got that number...) Then a guy from Australia: $2.50. And when estimating shipping, the Zone Rate quoted (eg 3.38 lbs) is not the actual weight.

Handling fees ($1.50) do not get factored in.

So I am clearly doing something wrong! But I can't figure out what. I've tried to solve this on my own, and now, humbly I appeal for help. Thanks in advance if anyone has the solution!

Re: Shipping Zones and Rates questions

Doing a search for Zone Shipping in the Tutorials/FAQ comes up with https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=69

Does that help?

Re: Shipping Zones and Rates questions

Could you post exactly what you have set in your shipping module?

I know things are "similar" but usually "similar" can include a typo or some other issue ...

Also, could you post your settings in your Shipping/Packaging ...

An URL to a product that has issues such as you described would also be helpful ...

Re: Shipping Zones and Rates questions

Wow, you're good. All you had to do was ask the QUESTION and I was able to find the problem... which was in Shipping/Packaging, an area I had completely forgotten about in my narrow-focussed attempt to solve the problem only via the Shipping Module.

Thanks for broadening my field of vision!

Hi i have similar issues but cannot find the shipping/packaging in my admin area.
I am looking in Modules - Shipping but cannot find it...
The only 2 enabled are Store Pickup and Per Unit.
These are the per unit results in my shop.
When an artikel has a weight of 0 the amount is €3,00
When an artikel has a weight of 1 the amount is €4,00
When an artikel has a weight of 2 the amount is €5,00
When an artikel has a weight of 3 the amount is €6,00 etc......

I don't know where the €3,00 is specified:blink::oops:

Plz help:cry:

Next problem is how to calculate when more items need to be shipped.
When ordering several light weight products it will not be an issue to send them together, but when ordering several heavier items the shipping costs must be adjusted equally to the number ordered.......

How to set this up.............

Thanks a million for any reply!!

Re: Shipping Zones and Rates questions

The Per Unit perweightunit shipping module is calculating the shipping as:

(quantity * products_weight) * unit rate

So if you set the Product Weight to 2 and order quantity 7 you would have:
(7 * 2) * unit rate (if 1) = $14.00
