Image handler-no medium size pictures

Hi, I'm not sure I am doing this correctly. I installed image handler 2 and it appears that it is correct. I am adding products manually and then adding my large image. When I check it through the image handler, the smaller and larger picture appear, but not the medium size picture. Is this the correct procedure. I uploaded it through the maual screen and then I did it again through an FTP. However, no med picture. Do I need to upload, all three pictures? I thought this is what image handler does.

I appreciate your help,
Thanks,
Barbara

Re: Image handler-no medium size pictures

Does Preview in the Image Handler portion of the Tools menu show medium images for all three image tags?

When you find the product listing under Manager in the Image Handler menu, does it show three images?

Does your image have spaces (my image.jpg), start with a capital letter (Image.jpg), or have any other bad characters in the name?

Re: Image handler-no medium size pictures

Hi, Thanks for your speedy replay. Only the medium image was missing either in image handler or in the online catalog. It started with a capital and I had a dash. Now, if I used the same picture and I upload it manually to the three files without a name change it then worked. But I don't think this is the correct way, and that was a struggle, needed to so that a few times.

Thanks,
Barbara

Re: Image handler-no medium size pictures

A little more clarity, please. Was the medium image missing in the preview, the product, or both?

Sometimes the caps are the problem. Sometimes the problem is myimage.JPG.

As a last resort, reset the IH2 cache to see if that helps.

Re: Image handler-no medium size pictures

Now I added a new product and listed several images for that product. Only 3 of the 6 appear in the online store and when you click on the larger image field, nothing happens. I must be doing something wrong.

Help is appreciated,

Barbara

Now I entered it manually in all files (small, med, and large). But before it was only the med in the ih screen and product page

Sometimes the problem is myimage.JPG.

Does this mean I should not have spaces? I thought names should have a _ for SEO.

As a last resort, reset the IH2 cache to see if that helps.

What does this mean?

Also. I added sveral pics for one product. However only half the pcitures are showing and the numbers are repeated. I see the images in image handles yet there are two 01's and two 02's and three 03's. that is probably why I only see half. Yet the pics all have different numbers associated with them.

Thanks,
Barbara

Re: Image handler-no medium size pictures

You've got to step back, take a deep breath, and quit shooting flies with a shotgun!:P

Make sure you're using firefox with the clear cache button and click on it and Refresh after opening your site EVERY time you have done ANY change to your site. That way, you'll know you have the latest version from the server.

Go to the Image Handler menu in the Admin >> Tools menu. Under Admin in the Image Handler menu, click on Clear image cache.

Then, go to Catalog, Categories/Products and start a completely new product with no image under one of your existing categories

Go to the Image Handler menu, click on manager, bring up the new product's category, and click display for the new product.

Use the new file button to add an image named test_image.jpg.

Make sure all three pieces of the image show up on the Image Handler page for that product.

IF all three images show up, you have image handler correctly setup.

Let's see how that works and we'll go from there.

Re: Image handler-no medium size pictures

Hi, I followed your directions, thank-you for your help.

1-I added the first image through image handler and all three appeared-yes! And it was worked in the catalog.

2- I then added the second and third image and they do not appear in the catalog, yet they appear in the image handler page. I tried adding it to the default file and then I tried again to the large file.

Your help is really appreciated.

Re: Image handler-no medium size pictures

Hi, I let a night go by and tried it again. I am able to add images to image handler, but they do not appear in the catalog. i tried changing from _03 to _04, but then the image reverts back to _02 and then i have two images with the same name. Should I use the underscore?

Thanks,
Barbara
