Re: www at start of web adress

What did you put into your configure.php files ?

  1. /admin/includes/configure.php
  2. /includes/configure.php
// Define the webserver and path parameters
  // HTTP_SERVER is your Main webserver: eg-http://www.your_domain.com
  // HTTPS_SERVER is your Secure webserver: eg-https://www.your_domain.com
  define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.YOUR-WEBSITE.co.uk');
  define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.YOUR-WEBSITE.co.uk');

(notice the www in my example above).

Re: www at start of web adress

I set it up through the auto installer with my web host.

I tried manually changing the configure.php files but then i got locked out of my admin area so i've changed it back!!

Re: www at start of web adress

The permissions on these files are either 644 or 444.

Before you can edit them, you need to make sure the files are writeable by owner (at least 644). If they are 444 then change to 644 and after editing, change back to 444.

When you say you get "locked out" of admin, what do you mean? What kind of host "locks out" webmasters who need to manage their installations?

There may be a server issue with your domain... ask your host why you can't use www.

Do this test...

Create an empty index.html file, and ftp it to your server.

Then, in your browser, type: http://www.apollobility.co.uk/index.html

and see if that stays at www.

If it does, then your zencart configure files must be changed.

EDIT: JUST BEEN TO YOUR SITE http://www.apollobility.co.uk AND I GET WWW... ?????

Re: www at start of web adress

I had the same problem. Change the permissions on your /includes/configure.php and change the define lines as schoolboy suggested. Worked for me!

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.YOUR-WEBSITE.co.uk');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.YOUR-WEBSITE.co.uk');

Thanks for the suggestion Schoolboy!

Don't you have to put the address so it as a '/' in the end of it? As for http://www.YOUR-WEBSITE.co.uk/ <-- ? Otherwise I think you'd have a problem with the site links.

Hmm...I have a problem then... I mean if I don't put that extra slash in the end the site can't work properly...links show up like this: http://www.egoline.co.ilindex.php?=main_page... what suppose to resolve it then?

Re: www at start of web adress

Ohhh I see, its being considered separetly to make it simpler for use. Also, now I noticed the note that says not to delete those slashes...guess it was deleted when my friend was still messing with the site on his own. If you could try helping out with my other issue I'll be more than glad. Thanks.

Re: www at start of web adress

Serious update: the problem I had with the base href strangely displaying has been solved. Apparently I also had to edit the fix the configure.php inside admin/includes. It had double '//' where should have been just one and the addresses applied were without WWW. So I fix it all to be the same and now everything's good.
