Updating/adding a download link in orders

Hi,
First i want to thank everyone for zen cart and all the support, it's really a great piece of software :)

I sell downloadable products (audio sample libraries) on my website here: https://www.acousticsamples.net

And sometimes i release updates of those libraries so i add some attributes and download links to a product. The problem is that the download links in the orders do not change.

So basically i would need a way to deliver updates to existing customers of a certain product. I thought about adding links in the orders accounts only if the customer purchased the product, but as i release updates quite often, that could get hard to maintain.
I also saw the solution of editing the orders with an addon, but i don't want to do this by hand.

Any suggestion?

Re: Updating/adding a download link in orders

i had a chat with theoracle and here is what he told me:

Yes, it is feasible and quite easy. A small modification could be done from the downloads manager from the admin so that, everytime you save your configuration, the filename could also be updated under the orders products downloads table as well for all those who purchased that particular attribute product you chosed to edit / save. Is this the type of modifications you're looking for to achieve ? Regards. TheOracle.

here is what i also found out searching in the database:
Yes that could be the solution, but only if i replace one file by another one. If i want to add one file, this does not work for the existing customers that purchased it. I've been searching a little in the database for what i would have to change, and i could end up with an sql query. The table is orders_products_attributes.
So if a want to change a product download name, i would have to change the products-prid value to the new one generated when you change something from the attribute manager (i guess that's what you're talking about). But if a add a download, i would have to insert a new line in this table too for all the orders that contain this product.

Re: Updating/adding a download link in orders

Hi,
I run a shop that sells downloadable products. Sometimes those products have to be updated and as the original files is really large (up to 3Gb), sometimes an update (that most of the time is about 200ko) would be easyer to send.
I decided to write a little function for that. So for now i have everything working except from the link that is not encrypted.

I'm not a really good programmer, but i still can understand some things :) So if someone knows how to make the links encrypted with a zen-cart function, that would be great!

Of course i will release it as an add on as other people might need it too... or not :( But anyway, there is already the admin page and everything. So i hope someone will be able to help me on that :)
