Not really Zen but you guys are pretty clued up!

Ok a puzzler for you savy members. Sorry not dirrectly ZC, but couldn't think who else to aks.

Yet another problem from changing host. This has only started happening since the switch.

I receive emails ok and i can send emails ok.

Yet, when someone tries to reply to one of my replies, to them it sends ok but I never receive it. I have tested this out myself using two different accounts to verify what a customer mentioned.

Any idea what can be causing this? There are a couple of options on my hosts email account to enable ftp and ssh on my emails. Can't see this being the cause though.

The other thing i thought of was the spam filter server side. I enquired with my host about the email options and the spam filter. the reply as follows:

"We use Mail Foundry to filter out spam emails incoming to our servers. If an email is recognised as being 100% certain spam it is deleted, but if there is any doubt about it then it is placed in quarantine by Mail Foundry. Starting tomorrow morning you will receive a Daily Digest from Mail Foundry, one for each email address you use, and it will list emails which it thinks are spam.

If you see any which you know are not spam then click the "Release and Report" link. This will tell Mail Foundry to releae it for download but also that the email address it came from is okay.

On the other hand if you receive any emails which are spam, which got past Mail Foundry, then just forward them to email address and Mail Foundry will block that email address."

Seems unlikely to me that a spam filter would block replies of replies.

Other than that my new host may still be propagating..would this cause replies of replies to not be received??

Propagation usually does not take long...
How long has it been?
Propagation is not actually "your" new host it is ALL name resolvers world wide.
Yes, if an ISP is still resolving to your old address, then the mails could be looking there

About 40 hours or so. What is strange about it and totally stumping me is that its only replies of replies that go missing.

For example. Bob emails me, I reply to him, Bob emails me back but i never get it. Or I email bob, he replies, i then email him back which he gets but then his reply to that I don't get. Its only the replies coming to me that don't get through but its never the first one if that makes sense.

Oh and I've also been checking my webmail access on the old host just to check it isn't ending up there..But alas no.

I get what you are experiencing but no - it does not make any sense...

Look behind the return address which many times is not an email address to what it actually represents....this should be the correct and valid email address

Normally point at the address and right click select properties

Kobra you are a star!!! Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction. I must have looked at the properties over a dozen times already to see if there was a spelling mistake or wrong email. It seems that as i was using [email protected] for my from name and the email address being the same except no capital. It was doing this.

From: "[email protected]" [email protected].

Now i have changed the from name to [email protected] it is no longer doubling up the email address so now is showing as

From: [email protected]

and all seems to be working now!

Once again thanks so much for the nudge!
