Transfering data from other cart to ZenCart?

Greetings,

I've been searching thru the forum but I can't find what I'm looking for..

I have a friend asking if she can transfer the data from another cart to zencart? Fyi, she is currently using Quick.cart

I'm not sure what I'm looking for to answer to her, so I hope to get answers from the experts here ^^

thanks!

Re: Transfering data from other cart to ZenCart?

Not familiar with quick cart???
Get the data in a manageable format and arrange in the ZenCart schema if possible

Re: Transfering data from other cart to ZenCart?

It's the sort of thing that's done all the time, but it does require some database expertise. Basically you create a data mapping to show which fields in the old database are equivalent to those in the new database and how you will manufacture or derive data for fields that are needed in the new database, but don't exist in the old one.

And then you need either a database management tool to transfer the data, or for Zen Cart you can also use Easy Populate for the product and category data.

You will find the Zen Cart wiki (see link top right), very helpful for understanding the Zen Cart database structure.
