creating a shopping comparison site on zencart

Hi All
Was just wondering if someone could shed a little light on making a shopping comparison site on zencart.

The way I would like it to work would be to create a shopping comparison site for 4 types of products to start of with. The products would be lcd tvs - dvd recorders - digital camcorders and microwave ovens. Many advertisers will be advertised on the site and would need to figure out a way of how to list the advertisers in rank of best price and when the link is clicked on it go's directly to the companies site.

The clicks will need to be recorded and I would love to have a login on the site for customers and advertisers.

It would be great to hear some advise from anyone with similar experience. Zencart may not be the best programme used to create such a site but its just that I have such a good ranking for a site created on zencart which I would like to transform into a comparison site and do not want to loose the backlinks already created

hey Abs...i think you would be much better suited to use droopal or joomla or wordpress for something like this. If you have your eyes fixed on zencart...be prepared to do a fair amount of hackjobbing.

Thanks alot for the advise - yeh I would love to keep it as zencart- is there a way that I can add virtual products and disable the shopping cart - Im sure ive read about this somewhere else.

Before I got introduced to zencart I tested out joomla and hated it. Im sure things like this could be done on zencart but I will need guidance.

I would be ever so grateful if someone on here could give a helping hand

You can disable the checkout in your Admin> Configuration> My Store> Store Mode
