Up 2 month, no sale yet..All suggestions are appreciated !

I launched this site about 2 month ago and am still in the process of improving SEO, including link exchange(I am hearing it may or may not be too helpful in terms of increase its page ranking). The site is Asian themed home decoration, with pretty unique products. Although the home decor market is pretty saturated, I feel due to uniqueness of the product, there may be a market. There hasn't been any sales yet, and I am starting to question my initial research and optimism. I like to hear what you think of the site, including what I should do to improve seo, and the products, especially price reasonableness.
I want to market the product to individual residential buyers, and commercial buyer, including hotel, lounge, and, restaurant. I am currently setting up an affiliate program so I can work with various decorators and designer. Other than that, are there any other ways to promote the products to hotels, lounges and restaurants? again, any suggestions are welcome...
best regards

Hi,
Well done on the launch of your site it looks very good!
One thing I found to make sales is just what u have done by making the site easy to navigate and use for customers.
One thing which you may try however is to promote the products more by the use of banners on the website, however too many can make it look slightly cluttered
You could also add a Number to your contact us page and a registered address to make customers aware that you are a legitimate company in trading.
Good luck in the future with it all!

The site looks nice.

My first questions would be - do you have visitors?

Put another way, is it a conversion problem or a traffic problem?

Other than the image, as I navigate a Category of products on the product _info page with Prev/Next ... you really don't say anything about the product that the search engines are going to lock in on ...

For customers, this too is a bit boring to go through other than the images change ...

More verbose descriptions on the Products would be a good idea ...

I agree with everything that has been said.

One point might be that the site is very un-targeted as far as region goes. I realise that you are probably willing to sell to anyone anywhere but increasingly search engines are tailoring there results to geographic locations. Perhaps you could add some more geographic information.

I am sure there is a market for your products and the site looks great. My next question is what keywords would someone actually use to find your products? I'd do a bit of keyword research. I don't think many people will search for 'zen inspired decor' for example. There might be more appropriate keywords. Is designer lamps a better keyword for you? There are tools out there that will tell you.

On this note your keywords, I think, have far to few commas in there. I believe, but the SEO experts out there may correct me, that you'd do better with keyword blocks of three or so words. But this is surely me just talking off the top of my head.

Lindasdd's point about using the analytics data to see if you have visitors but they are just not buying is very valid. If you have lots of visitors but no purchases that is very different to having no visitors and the solutions are very different.

Finally, I'd really encourage you to take some time off on-line marketing and SEO and do some real world marketing. You've got good stuff so get out there and let people know. Advetising, flyers, general publicity, press releases and all kinds of other things can have a huge impact.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

Great site! I noticed that you have an email visible throughout the site on the products page. You really should change that to an internal link to your contact page to avoid the flood of spam you will surely get once the site does start to attract more visitors.

Nice work,
Marc

You dont allow right click, which is really really annoying (and has no effect, really. Anyone could turn off javascript and copy everything)

Your overall layout is fairly good, but you lack content on your site.

Your blog has some error at the end (scroll down to the bottom).

I see you have quite a few number of blog posts there, while dont you link to your products within your posts? For example, when you talk about vases, how about linking to some vases on your store if you have any? This is good for both SEO and sale.

The question here is: either you have lots of visitors and no sale or no visitors and no sale. Before investing too much time into SEO, I suggest you run a mini adwords campaign to determine which keywords are the best for you.

@niccol: keyword meta tag is not used by Google anymore, but yahoo and bing still make little use of them, so it's a good strategy to use it as well.

@yellow1912 My point wasn't that you shouldn't have meta-tags. It was that you need to format them in a way that the search engines can recognise. They use the comma as a semantic break. What that means is that 'red dogs blue dogs' is not the same as 'red dogs, blue dogs'. This site had a meta keword that was a long stream of words and phrases that had no commas. It doesn't now

Next, yes there is a lot of discussion about the value of keywords. Few people believe that they are as powerful as they once were. However, even fewer believe that they can do any harm. So why not use them, eh?

(A few people do think they can be harmful. Read the 2005 article http://www.searchengineguide.com/richard-ball/meta-keywords-a.php. Certainly using them inappropriately can be an issue. The discussion is still going on about yahoo. I don't know whether their algorithm uses this meta tag and actually it isn't an on/off issue. The question is what weight the algorithm places on the meta tag. The answer is - a lot less than it used to for all the search engines.)

I might also point out from a business point of view, the home decor market is in the toilet at the moment.

I have a retail business selling home decor in a proce range a lot lower than this and times are very very tough...

All the above advice will certainly help, You really need to get onto it now so your all indexed nicely and where you want to be in the run up to Christmas as people will have a 'need' to buy then...

I agree completely, the home decor market is going through a slump, but it's just a low burning flame, not a roaring fire as it once was. You can have the lowest prices and best service, but that still isn't enough.
I'm also in home decor, but I use my site as a 'walk thru' tool when I'm chatting with my clients.
I agree with old school marketing, but you have to know exactly who your market is.

Here are a few suggestions that have worked for me, and still continue to work.

  • Go out there and post flyers
  • Join the local chamber of commerce
  • Network like crazy
  • Go to giftware shows and find other retailers whose products will compliment yours. Talk to them about a joint venture, maybe a combined promotion. Remember, they're in the same boat as you are, so why not work together?
  • Advertise for free on places such as Craigslist. You won't know who's who, but it's free and a good place for fast exposure.
  • Newspaper advertising. It's EXPENSIVE, but there's a trick to it. Call a newspaper at the deadline submission time and ask them if they have an opening for the category you wish to place an ad in. A lot of companies cancel ads at the last minute, and you'll get a great ad position at a major discount, if not free.

These are just a few that I've tried, but they work IF you do your homework, and are diligent. The payoffs are huge and I'm living proof of it.

Just be patient and focused. You'll be fine :)

I hope this helps a bit.

I notice you have set up a JavaScript redirect from zenspiredhome.com to zenspiredhome.com/shop/

Two problems:

  1. The redirect fails when JavaScript is disabled
  2. Search engines won't like it

A better method would be to set up a permanent redirect using .htaccess:

RedirectMatch permanent ^/$ http://www.zenspiredhome.com/shop/

Of course, an even better solution would be to move the cart to your root directory.
