How do I move all of my Zen Cart files into a deeper folder?

I searched and searched, and maybe I'm using bad wording, but I could not find the answer to this question anywhere. I'm a ZC newbie and have no idea!

I made the mistake of placing all of the Zen Cart files into the root directory. I would like to put them two steps deeper. For example:

If they are in

/

and I would like to move them to

/website/catalog/

how would I go about doing this effectively? Will it break links, or can I simply move the files?

EDIT: I have already installed and started modifying settings in Zen Cart.

Do the reverse of this:

https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=122

but consider carefully whether you want to do this or not. If the purpose of your website is to sell stuff, you probably don't want your visitors to have to find and click two links to get to your store. Installing Zencart to the root wasn't a mistake, IMO.

Re: How do I move all of my Zen Cart files into a deeper folder?

Well, I'm planning on eventually hosting more than one website on the server. I'll actually probably only move it to

/website/

The domain will open the /website/ directory when I'm finished anyway.

Thanks a ton! That page helps a lot. =)

Re: How do I move all of my Zen Cart files into a deeper folder?

There are three other folders in the root directory:

/_db_backups/
/cgi/
/php_uploads/

Should I move those as well, or leave them in the root directory?

I'll be using seperate MySQL databases for other domains. So, would it just create those folders in the directories for the other websites, or do I need to leave them in the root directory for all of my websites to access?

Those folders are not related to zen cart and should be left alone

All right. I wasn't sure if Zen Cart needed access to those files to connect with the MySQL database or whatever. Thanks! =)

Re: How do I move all of my Zen Cart files into a deeper folder?

If you are running the server, and each website will point directly to /website/, then /website/
is the root for that site. You were working from the "host" point of view, not the site admin pov.

You don't want to move the ZC folders to /website/catalog/; that would force every website visitor to click down to a subfolder before seeing the site.
