Prepping for Zen Cart

I have lots of experience customizing a CMS site (Joomla), but have never done an e-commerce site and have someone asking me to make them one. It doesn't need merchant account access, they just want to pass the credit card number to them (they have a little machine to process the #s), and paypal.

I have another site on godaddy, and installed zen cart to it just to play, so I could see all the backend customization and template config, etc... Is it really just as easy as getting a godaddy site, installing zencart, getting an SSL certificate for security and off I go customizing my site?

It looks that way, I just don't want to promise something I can't do. Thanks!

Re: Prepping for Zen Cart

You might want to search the forum for Godaddy (or any other host you are considering) to see other experiences with using Zen Cart on it. If your client wants a "hobby" store, Godaddy may be fine, but for serious e-commerce you should have a host that is more attuned to business needs, like the certified hosts at the top of the page.

That said, setting up Zen Cart really is that easy. Depending on the kind and degree of customization you are looking for, there will be a learning curve. I wouldn't promise a fast highly customized job until you are familiar with the platform.
