UPS discounted rates not showing in UPS XML

Hi Everyone,

I have searched the Zen Cart support and forum threads extensively for the solution to the problem I am having with no luck and I am hoping someone can give me the answer.

I have set up a shopping cart site at https://www.bigleyshoes.com/shop and I am having an issue with the UPS XML contribution. The account we have with UPS now has the negotiated discounted rates active on it and I have entered all the Access Key and UserID/Password information into the module correctly.

The problem I am having is that when I send an item with a certain weight and destination on the UPS site it comes up as $13 (discounted rate) but when I put the same item and destination into the UPS XML module it comes up as $22 (published rate). I am using the same method of shipping for both ways.

Is there something else I need to do so that the negotiated rates show up on my zen cart? I can't find a solution anywhere and any help would be greatly appreciated! :frusty:

I am not sure if this will be helpful or not but I have been using the UPS XML module for some time now. It seems to get the prioritized(3-day, 2nd Day, Next Day) negotiated rate right always seems to be a little off on the ground rates. I looked into it and could not figure it out so I just accept it that way. I would be interested if you find and solution though.

Thanks....would like to have a solution to this problem....it is very frustrating. UPS is impossible to deal with as they don't have any solutions to integrating the Online Tools to Zen cart or don't care to tell you how. The only solution I can find is this XML module and I need it to see discounted rates....some one help please!!!:cry:

The only other thing that I noticed in the past is that if your max package weight under 'configuration'>'shipping/packaging' is set too low then Zencart adds more packages and calculates the rate based on two or more packages going to the same address. Probably not your problem but I just remembered that it happened to me in the past when I started seeing that the customers were paying inflated rates.

I have another thread going on this issue...seems we are both having the same problem. As the XML module stands it seems it is not coded for negotiated rates, needs an aditional flag or so.

I'm working with UPS and hopefully will get this done. I will post the outcome / solution once I have it.

Good luck, I talked with people for weeks at UPS only to reach an abrupt stop when I got to the top. They insist that all integration be done by the software developer. I even brought it to there attention that there were many people that would like to utilize this module and the lower rates being shown during the checkout process would persuade more customers to choose UPS as their preferred shipping method. They just told me no.

marco....that sounds great....do you know when you would have this done approx? For our client we basically need it done yesterday type thing with them so the sooner the better. Thanks.

Is there no one with a solution to this problem? I can't be the only one needing discounted rates showing up in the UPS XML module. I was looking at osCommerce contributions and they have a UPS Rates & Service Gateway module that now includes a negotiated rates option.....is there some way this can be brought into the Zen Cart module?

I find it very interesting that this module has not been updated in 4 years and no one has added anything to it. Please someone help!!!!:cry:

Here is the version I modified for my website, it will return Negotiated Rates only. Read the readme file, you have to add your UPS account number to one line in the file!

I was looking over the module last night and once I change the "Quote Type" from "Residential" to "Commercial" everything was fine. The charged shipping rate on all of the orders that I did today were a perfect match with what Worldship was charging me when I printed the labels.

Trust me I had to make a few changes to get the discounted rates in the module I posted, if you are using world ship 2008 or earlier you must have Negotiated rates turned on to actually see and display them. The 2009 version and up will automatically show you these rates.

If you are using UPS.com and not world ship you have to have Negotiated turned on for that and only your rep can do that for you.

OK probably one thing I should have told you guys too, this is a Canadian store. I don't use Worldship I use regular UPS but the Canadian one.

Tat - I turned the Residential to Commercial and it still did not even come close to matching the discounted rates.

Marco - Thanks for sending that file I really appreciate it. I entered my account number on the line like the readme said and uploaded the file to includes/modules/shipping and when I went to check out the shipping module disappeared.....is there a reason for this? is the file you gave me not compatible with the version of UPS I am using?

Not sure what version you are using, the one I modified can be found here: http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/3rd_party_contributions_-_Shipping_Modules_-_UPS_XML

If you have the above version installed you should be able to over write it with mine.

Also not sure how you added your account number but the line you modify should look like below.

The XXXXXX of course would be your account number.

"         <ShipperNumber>XXXXXX</ShipperNumber>\n".

marco - yes I have that exact same version of the UPS XML and I overwrote the file in includes/modules/shipping with the one you gave me with my UPS shipper number inserted down on line 542 and all I get at the shipping portion of the checkout is nothing.....no shipping options at all.

The green light is on next to the UPS XML module in the backend and Zen Cart doesn't say that there are no shipping modules on but at shipping there is nothing.

I even turned off the module, reinstalled the whole thing with the edit version you gave to me and reactivated it and entered all my info and again....same thing....still nothing.

What could I be doing wrong to have this happen? Thanks for all your help so far but just need a little more if you got it?

Not sure why it is not working for you, I downloaded the original version and did a line by comparison and noticed a couple of lines commented out that was from another modification I did to the file awhile back.

So here is another file with just the negotiated rates feature, hopefully it works for you.

The only other idea that I have is maybe there is a conflict in PHP? I'm using version 5.2.9 if you are using 4.? Then that may be it as well.
Maybe someone else more knowledgeable in PHP can look at the file and see if my changes conflict with a lower version of PHP??

Ok also you will notice in this zip the directory structure, the modified file goes only in:

includes/modules/shipping

DO NOT override the file that is in your Admin directory that one is different, if you did that then that is your issue restore the original and just override the one in the above directory.

Marco...new problem arose!

WHen we go to the final stage of checkout I get an error that says "Shipping Method must be less then 64 characters". What does this mean? It won't le us complete the order.

OK, it turns out that the numbers I was seeing were not my negotiated rates and I am getting Worldship set up tp see my negotiated rates as we speak.

I decided to try your contribution file but when I tried to ship a 3lb package from MA to OK the rates came up as:

Ground $3.00
3 Day $12.00
2nd Day $2.00
Next Day Saver $13.00

Also when I looked at my admin page I could not see all of the shipping methods and the "install/edit" area to the right was missing. The shipping methods that I could see went the full width of the screen.

What did I miss? Were there any other altered files? I quickly reverted to my backup upsxml.php file because this is a live site.
