Can't sort by price

Hi Guys,

I've trawled the forums for an answer to this but the answers either don't seem to work or zen into technical-database-speak.

I simply want to sort all my products by price, by default. I've gone into the Admin/Product Listing/Display Product Listing Default Sort Order and set this to 4a as instructed in various forums, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Do I need to reset my products sort order to 0, or something else? Is there somewhere else I should make changes?

Do you import your products?

Do you use Linked Products?

Do all of your Products in the products table have master_categories_id set to their Master Category?

I don't import products and (at least for now) they're not linked.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by master_categories_id - is that something that would be set outside of the zen system?

That is part of Zen Cart ...

If you look at the products table of your database in phpMyAdmin you should be able to browse it and all products should have a value in the field:
master_categories_id

that is not 0 ...

Since you do not use Linked Products, check how many records are in the following tables:
products
products_description
products_to_categories

they should all match ...

Backup your database and then go to your Zen Cart Admin and run the Tools ... Store Manager ...

Reset ALL Products Master Categories ID
to be used for Linked Products and Pricing: Reset

Then run the:

Update ALL Products Price Sorter
to be able to sort by displayed prices: Update

Does this fix the sort order?
